Barcode Scanners
SECTOR has the ability to interface with bar code scanners to read Washington State Driver Licenses and Vehicle Registrations. The Driver License bar code contains all of the information that is listed on the front of the Driver License. The Vehicle Registration bar code contains some elements from the registration form. The Washington State Department of Licensing is currently in the process of expanding the Vehicle Registration bar code. For both the license and registration, information scanned by a bar code reader automatically populates the tickets and collision reports created in SECTOR.
In addition, many states also include bar codes on their licenses. However, many states have interpreted the standards differently introducing variations in the bar codes. SECTOR is capable of reading the Driver License bar codes from other states that meet the American Association of Motor Vehicle Adminisrators (AAMVA) Driver License standards.
SECTOR is currently testing various bar code scanners from the following manufacturers to determine compatibility. As testing continues, compatible bar code scanners will be listed on this website.
Hand Held Products Imagers
SECTOR currently interfaces with the HHP 4600131-LTRK-USB Imager and the HHP 4600R151-LTRK-USB Imager. These imagers use an RS-232 Serial connection to a PC but a USB interface cable is available that also powers the imager through the USB port eliminating the need for extra power cables.
CODE Imagers
Bar code scanners manufactured by Code Corporation have been successfully tested with SECTOR. Models approved for compatibility include those that are hard-wired to the laptop/tablet. The bluetooth version of these scanners is currently unable to interface with the application.

Portable Printer
Printing SECTOR-generated tickets in the field requires the use of a portable printer. The important factors to consider when selecting a portable printer include quality, speed, connectivity, size, and ruggedness.
The primary printer being used with SECTOR is Pentax's PocketJet III+®. It is compatible with Windows® 2000, NT, and XP and connects to the SECTOR Field Unit using either an RS232 serial port or a USB connection. The PocketJet III+® offers a unique feature that allows rolled thermal paper to be used to print SECTOR tickets as opposed to having to continually feed individual pieces of paper to the printer manually.
For more information on Pentax printers, visit: www.pentaxtech.com/Products/pocketjets.html.
Compatibility testing of various portable printers will continue. Results and approved hardware will be posted on this website.
